Peter Marland

Chief Executive & Company Secretary

Peter has worked in social housing for over 30 years and joined Ashton Pioneer Homes as Director of Housing in 2004. He became the Chief Executive and Company Secretary in April 2021. He is professionally qualified and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing as well as earning a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from senior positions at other Registered Providers of Social Housing. A passionate advocate for resident empowerment, he has championed resident scrutiny and digital tenant engagement. As the Company Secretary, Peter has modernised the APH Governance Framework.

Gary French

Director of Resources

Gary joined APH as Director of Resources in June 2020. His responsibilities cover Finance, Maintenance and IT. He previously worked in senior finance roles within the social housing sector for the past 10 years. He has a broad range of experiences from working with a number of smaller housing associations similar to APH. He has particular experience and interest in risk management and long-term strategic planning and has much useful experience from working closely with the Regulator of Social Housing in the past. Gary is a Chartered Management Accountant with 20 years experience and is keen to bring this knowledge to APH’s benefit.

Rob Bywater

Director of Assets

Rob joined Ashton Pioneer Homes in January 2021. His responsibility includes asset management, the cyclical and investment programmes, management of the maintenance team, together with compliance within the organisation – covering areas such as building safety, asbestos, gas and health & safety. Rob is a Chartered Construction Manager and has worked within that sector for over 30 years. With over 20 years’ experience within social housing, having worked for a number of local authorities and housing associations, Rob brings a wealth of experience to APH.

Tony Kiely

Head of Services

Tony joined Ashton Pioneer Homes in October 2021. He is responsible for our Housing Management Team, Customer Services Team and Neighbourhood Services Team. Tony has undertaken senior roles for both small and large social housing providers across the country, which included responsibility for the strategic delivery of the full range of Housing & Neighbourhood management services. Specific service areas include rent collection/arrears management, voids and allocations, tenancy management including all aspects of anti-social behaviour, caretaking/cleaning/gardening services, resident involvement, and customer call centre operations. Tony is a committed and enthusiastic individual who brings vast knowledge and experience in service delivery to APH for the benefit of our residents.

Lucy Cain

Executive Assistant

Lucy joined the APH family in 2017, working firstly in the Customer Services Team, until joining the Executive Team in 2023.

She supports The Board, the Executive Team and Senior Management Team and Governance support working to The Company Secretary.

Lucy enjoys striving to make the work place a more supportive and enjoyable environment, with Colleagues at the forefront of her mind.

Nicola Willis

Services Manager

Nicola first joined APH as a Personal Assistant to the Executive Team in May 2002,  since then she has developed and moved through the company gaining knowledge and experience in her role as a Customer services Officer, Housing Services Officer and Customer Services Team Leader.  Nicola’s commitment to improving service delivery in all frontline services at APH led her into the role of Project Lead for Data System Migration & Development and her new appointment as Services Manager.  During her time at APH Nicola has gained CIH and CMI qualifications and most recently became a Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner.  

Michelle Barnes

Finance manager

Michelle joined APH in April 2011 as a Finance Office, her role also included overseeing day to day IT issues within the company and has recently been promoted to Finance Manager.  She has 30 years experience of working within a finance team and 15 years within the housing sector.  She is currently developing her role to also include becoming Data Protection Officer for APH and is looking forward to being a part of the Senior Management Team and shaping the future of APH.
